A village to rediscover
All those who knew the Village in the past will be won over by the many changes. New
features abound, starting with the main swimming pool, with its run-off design, surrounded by a
huge expanse of antique-style tiles. And then there is La Douce, the main (air-conditioned)
restaurant, and gleaming new kitchen facilities. Redesigned space and new-look colors, Club
Med’s consultant architect, working with architects from the Cabinet ATEC and interior designer
Marie Prost, chose to go beyond "classic" Tunisian references: blue and white may be the
prevailing colors, but these are showcased with splashes of ochre, yellow and red. The local
spirit pervades the Village thanks to traditional patterns, handcrafts and Tunisian artifacts
unearthed in the souks (pottery, antique doors, etc.). And to add the finishing touches to this
warm, carefully prepared decor, it was Tunisian artisans who carried out most of the building
work. Who else but local specialists could construct the Tozeur brick arches or the earthenware
facings in the Calypso restaurant?
Moreover, this second restaurant, Calypso, is right in step with the new Club Med trends in terms of meal service: plants or screens divide the space into smaller eating areas to create a friendly, feel-good atmosphere. And Djerba la Douce also proposes a "cooking show", with cooks in full view of the guests who can enjoy watching them prepare dishes featuring the country’s culinary delights.
Changes are legion in every sector of the Village. The bungalows? Redecorated and refurnished. The bedrooms? New look, with revamped bathrooms. The paths winding their way throughout the Village? Re-landscaped, notably with new pavements in a savvy mix of modern materials and local tradition. The 22 km of air-conditioning, water, electricity and telephone pipes and cables? All new. The Club Med Spa balneotherapy facilities? Refurbished and redesigned. And among the biggest Village news are the brand new facilities reserved for children. The youngest age group is positively spoiled with an extensive and exceptional Mini Club Med featuring a swimming pool, play areas and even an amphitheatre! Basking in the Tunisian sun, the Village of Djerba la Douce is a must to rediscover in its most beautiful light.
