The exceptional climate of southern Italy.
Napitia is named after a hero of antiquity, Napitius, who reached Calabria after fleeing the city of Troy. Napitius was so taken with the beauty of the spot, the gentle climate and luxuriant vegetation that he decided to make it his home, founding around 1500 B.C. the city of Napitia (now known as Pizzo Calabro)...
Today, history repeats itself with Club Med - enchanted by the spectacular beaches - deciding
to open a Village in this region of Calabria, the so-called "pearl of the south". Moreover,
Club Med is one of the rare few to open Calabria to outsiders.
A family-oriented 3-Trident Village (with supervision for children 2 years old and up),
Napitia offers all the pleasures of an endless beach. It boasts myriad attractions: two beautiful
swimming pools (1450 m2 and 1100 m2), three restaurants, comfortable rooms, attractive
architecture and decoration, a wide range of sports, easy access, and, especially, an
exceptional natural environment with a profusion of plant life and flowers. And then there is
Calabria itself, a region redolent with authentic charm, famous for its climate, its beaches, its local cuisine (you simply must sample the "tartuffo" and the "liquore di liquirizia") and numerous excursion possibilities (Tropea, Reggio Calabria, the Ionian coast, Maratea, The
Aeolian islands...). Napitia, new vacations all’italiana...
In the country
 |
It is well-known, the Club Med has the genius to settle in the most beautiful places in the world. And, when we are on the spot, it would be damage not to meet the people, the country, the landscapes and all the wonders which are around. First selections. |

A village with local color
Your flight from Paris lasts just over two hours, a 20-minute transfer and you are at Napitia.
All that separates the Village, covering nearly ten hectares, from the 15-km long beach is a
stand of eucalyptus trees, pines and mimosas. This forest with its sunny scents and welcome
shade will host a good part of Village life! Made up of twelve small two- or three-story
lodgings, Napitia is literally half-hidden amidst the greenery and flowers. Moreover, some
species are very rare in Europe! Despite the spacious layout, it takes only a few minutes to
reach the living and activity areas via well-tended walkways.
La couleur, Color, light and gaiety are the conceptual cornerstones of the design and decoration. The
restaurants and rooms feature ochre, yellow and sienna with subtle undertones of blue. In a
Village where sailing will be one of the major sports, the nautical theme is carried over into
the restaurant and the entertainment area by using stretched canvas to shape and rhythm the
space.
In fact, each area has a feel all its own: the bar revels in a "pirate" ambiance (where sea-chests serve as tables in a rustic decor), while the adjoining restaurant is set up on the beach like a fishing cabin, and the boathouse resembles a beach hut.
The whole Village has been designed to welcome families and children who will enjoy brand
new facilities adapted to different age groups, each with its very own pool. Offering a Petit
Club Med with 60 places (for children 2 to 3 years old), a Mini Club Med (4 to 10 years old)
and a Juniors' Club Med (11-13 year olds throughout the season and 14-17 year olds during
school vacation), Napitia represents an ideal family destination. Accommodations include 3-
or 4-person rooms measuring some 30m2 (some in mezzanine) with air conditioning,
television, telephone and balcony or terrace.
At Napitia, you can indulge in the pleasures of the table as well, with its two buffet
restaurants, the Tyrenno and the Calabria, and the beachside restaurant, the Golfo (table
service in the evening), where the menu includes a sumptuous sunset! Did someone say sports? How about sailing on new Club Med catamarans, Club Med fitness,
tennis (13 clay courts) and archery (all these activities available for "all levels"), plus
beginner kayaking and skating... Not to mention a mountain biking trail through the forest.
And as for entertainment, the program includes Latino and rock’n roll dance lessons.
Calabrian-style living
In Napitia, you know you are in the south of Italy and no where else: the surrounding villages
all evoke the dolce vita. Sip an espresso or taste a gelato on a café terrace in the midst of
lively street scenes late into the night... this is Italy the way we always imagined it would be.
Massive old houses painted in pastel colors rise up out of the vineyards, olive groves and
orchards, the scene is set. In fact, the greatest filmmakers have chosen this region as a
backdrop to their works, from Roberto Rossellini (Stromboli) to Nanni Moretti (Caro diario)
or Michelangelo Antonioni (L'Avventura). Even the French writer Alexandre Dumas
succumbed to the charms of these sites a century earlier in his Voyage in Calabria.
Napitia will be open from May to October and is destined to be an ideal Village for spending
a vacation 100% pleasure, 100% Italy, 100% Club Med...
